Nokian Snowproof: The new winter tyres from Nokian Tyres

We are used to having great winter tyres coming from the Finnish tyre manufacturer after having dominated the market for both non-studded and studded tyres with its Nokian Hakkapeliitta range. The new range go under the name Nokian WR Snowproof and Snowproof P. While the Hakkapeliitta range is developed for Nordic winters that are known for being very harsh, the Snowproof range is developed for Central European winters. The Snowproof P is a sporty version for high speed vehicles that still want to perform on Autobahn during winter conditions. They are both part of the non-studded range of tyres that are legal for use all-over Europe without limitations.

Nokian Tyres has experience from winter tyres that ranges back to 1935 when they invented the first winter tyres. This new range is built on the experience and knowledge developed over the years to bring these exceptional tyre range to the market for central Europe. The normal range can handle top speeds of 190 km/h, while the sporty version can reach speeds of 240km/h. The normal range is also recommended for electric cars and hybrids, while the sporty version is not.

Being non-studded tyres, they rely on Nokian Tyres new concept named, Alpine Performance Concept. This concept is based on 3 different parts that are combined to make a tyre that can excel when it comes to safety, performance, control and stability. The parts consist of an optimized tread pattern so that it can handle snow, ice and slush with excellent performance. The tread has to be able to channel away the slush from the road surface to minimize the risk for slushplaning. The tread also has to generate enough friction to create enough grip and traction. Then you have the sipes that are created in a dense to improve the grip on ice, which is why the exhibit best in class braking results on ice. Finally you have the artic compound that is made with silica for higher wear resistance and low rolling resistance they also have gripping particles that act like sandpaper on ice to improve the grip. On snow, they have excellent grip and traction.

The Nokian Snowproof P winter tires are designed for high-speed driving in Central European winter conditions, while the Nokian Snowproof standard model is for normal passenger cars. They allow for ultimate grip on snowy, slushy and wet roads. They have very low rolling resistance, which reduces wear and fuel consumption. For electric cars, this will lead to that you can get further on every charge.

If you need new winter tyres and you live in Central Europe, then the Nokian Snowproof can offer what you want in terms of performance, control and safety regardless if you have a passenger car or a sports car that you want to be able to drive at the high speeds that you are used to during the warm months of the year.
